This clinic will take players through basketball conditioning drills to increase stamina and strength in order to complete at the high school level and beyond.
Development will involve improving individual basketball skills: footwork-technique-movement-IQ.

TOMP Recreation Department is committed to offering the highest level of instruction in all areas of the game to the participants in our program. Speed training is critical to maximizing the potential of each player, but in many cases, is overlooked. This is not a mandatory program for anyone or exclusive to any group of players. Your individual success will depend greatly on the individual effort given each night.

LOCATION CHANGE: All sessions will be held at the TOWN HALL Field on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm.

Players must wear athletic attire and cleats.

For ages 9-18* (Age is determined by child's age as of 9/1/2024. No age waivers will be considered) *18 year-olds must be in high school at the time of registration. Boys and girls play separately. Teams are NOT created according to schools. Age groups: 9, 10, 11/12, 13/14, 15/16, 17/18. Teams divided North/South if numbers permit. Boys and girls play separate in all leagues.

REGISTRATION: You may register online at ww.mtpleasantrec.com or at one of the following locations: R.L. Jones Center, Park West Recreation Complex and G.M. Darby Building. Make checks payable to Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.

FEES: Residents - $ 60.00, Non-residents - $120.00.
Waitlist opens: 11/5/2024. Waitlist registration can be completed at any MPRD facility, online, or via telephone. However, team placement is not guaranteed. Registration from the waitlist requires a $13.00 late fee.

EVALUATIONS: No evaluations for Recreation League. Computer generated player selection. Requests for specific teams/coaches are not considered. Players register for North/South. Teams divided North/South if participation numbers permit. Practices will take place in designated North or South facility. Games will be all over town and not solely North or South Mount Pleasant. Siblings placed on the same team if they are in the same age division. The designated head coach is allowed to have his/her child/children on their team.

MPRD will supply each child with a game jersey. The MPRD issued jersey is the only jersey allowed to be worn during games. Players are required to wear ONLY Basketball shoes. Shorts with pockets and/or zippers are not allowed. Jewelry such as, but not limited to, rings, earrings, bracelets, etc. are not allowed during practices and games.

The Select League availability for all age groups is dependent on number of registered participants. If the Select League registration number is too low to support a league, registered participants will be transferred to the Recreation League.

The Citadel Track team athletes and coaches will coordinate and provide instruction. Potential running and field events include 50m-3200m, 80m hurdles, 400m & 1600m relays, long jump, high jump, discus, shot put, mini javelin and javelin.

Pole vault instruction and training

For ages 5-13 (Age is determined by child's age as of 1/1/2025.)

Wando High School Wrestling coach, Adam Schneider, and Lucy Beckham Head Coach, Eric Hansen, will head up the Mount Pleasant Wrestling program, along with their assistant coaches and wrestlers.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of wrestling through weekly practices and in-house scrimmages. In addition, local and state USA Wrestling Tournaments are available and will be the responsibility of the individual participant and his/her parent(s) to participate.

Location: Sessions will be held at Wando High School and Lucy Beckham High School.

Parents Meeting: A parent meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 12/4/2024, at the R. L. Jones Center in the multipurpose room at 7:15pm. Session dates and times will be handed out at this meeting.

Uniform: Participants will need to purchase appropriate uniform supplies to include singlet, headgear, kneepads and mouthpiece. MPRD will supply each participant with a t-shirt.
